THE KOLLA
THE MYTH:
His kingdom is the rough and terrible desert of Puna, made of wind and solitude. His millennial culture is based on a dialogue with nature and the respect to the environment he is bound to live in. As a result of this communication, the Kolla nation has learned to recognise not only the signals which the stars, the plants, the wild animals, the meteors, the wind and the clouds give out, but also those which men can see in their dreams. Also thanks to this communication, the Kollas have been able to gather the fruit of this land and survive for centuries in extreme conditions.
Kollas are the true bearers of the traditional Andean way of life and this precious legacy is an essential part of the popular culture of the northwest of Argentina.
